It’s About Time . . .
The saying “Time is money” is only partially true. Unlike money, time is not a renewable resource. You can’t accumulate it or stockpile it like other commodities. And you can’t see it, hear it, touch, taste, or smell it. When time is gone, it’s gone for good. It is also an equal opportunity resource. Time marches on regardless of who you are or your station in life. Losing people I love only underscored that point for me –time is short and we cannot get it back. Thus, of all the things I want to accomplish in my life, spending my time wisely is one of the most important. With so many competing demands for my time, it’s imperative that I am intentional and judicious about how I use it.
Surprisingly, it’s not a complex litmus test either. I have just three criteria to help me determine if “it’s worth or a waste of my time.” It is not worth my time if it doesn’t make me
- Happy
- Better
- Money
If the activity I’m considering does not do any of these things, then frankly, I just don’t do it. Of course, the reverse is true. If something makes me happy such as spending time with my kids, Aaron, Angelica, Ava, and Ben, or improves myself in some way, like when I read books on effective leadership and personal branding, or helps increase my business, then I know I’m on the right track.
In the corporate position I held for 19 years up until not too long ago, my time was someone else’s to determine. I had to work according to their schedule. Spend my time on what they wanted. One of the major
reasons I left was so I could reclaim my own time. And I want the same for my clients. As much as I want their business, I also want them to spend their time doing what they love with the people they love. It turns out, they want that too.
Cleaning can be time consuming and unless you are someone who loves to do it (or frankly, even if you are someone who loves it), chances are there are other activities vying for your time, making it hard to keep up with cleaning in the way you want. One of my main pitches to prospective clients is that by hiring us, clients can spend their time in ways they find meaningful and rewarding while simultaneously having the peace of mind that comes with a clean and aesthetically pleasing home.
In a twist of irony, time also factors into whom clients decide are the best cleaning services to hire. A bit of market research on what people ought to look for in the home cleaning or maid services revealed cleaning technicians who showed up on time and who showed up time and time again was consistently mentioned. That is, reliability was a key factor for the reasons to hire house cleaners. Understandably, they don’t want to waste their time waiting for someone who may or may not show.
Thus, as a green cleaning service in the Claremont 91711 area, we strive to be that dependable and reliable service, whom clients come to appreciate, time after time.
