BACK TO SCHOOL: Keep the Shopping Basic!
BACK TO SCHOOL SHOPPING! Back to school shopping can send parents and children into "overdrive" with unnecessary purchases. Parents tend to over-buy school material, notebooks, loose-leaf and pencils; materials that have a big impact on the environment. This back to school season, make fresh strides and be sure to know what you have on hand before you hit the stores. Take time out and go through the Supply List your child's teacher has provided and cross of the supplies you already have. This small step will reduce the amount of supplies you will needs purchase, reducing waste and saving you money!
LUNCHTIME! Lunch is probably every child's favorite "class" of the day (at least it was for us!) but if your child is using brown paper bags for lunch everyday, or using a lunchbox that is not BPA free, he or she may flunk out of "Eco-Friendly 101". Be sure the choices you are making are BPA FREE, LEAD FREE and made from recycled materials. Try an organic cotton lunchbag that your child can customize with stickers and images of his or her favorite characters for a fun, environmentally-friendly, family project.
